    It’s my birthday today! 😌 So taking this oppo It’s my birthday today! 😌 So taking this opportunity to share an updated post about me for this fresh lap around the sun 🫶☀️ ✨ I live in the Fremantle area of Perth here in Western Australia with my husband and two cats 🤎 ✨ I’m a social media & content marketer and started my business @selkiesocial in 2018. I now rent a studio space in the heart of Fremantle and work with an incredible bunch of mindful and sustainable entrepreneurs and businesses owners 😘 ✨ I’m multi-passionate & the beauty of owning a business means I can make time for so much more of what I love to do. Part of that over the years has been learning and sharing about sustainability on my own platforms - first with blogging on my website and recently moving more into video 🎞️ ✨ I’m half Irish & half English and was born and grew up in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia 🦘🏜️ ✨ I acknowledge growing up in beautiful regional Australia with two sustainably-minded parents as the start of my journey in this space, but it really kicked off when I came across @fash_rev in 2015 while writing an article for a uni assignment. Looking back, Fashion Revolution Week & combining this interest with my interest in social media & marketing influenced my whole trajectory 🧵 ✨ My favourite item in my closet is my pair of fast fashion boots (ironic, I know) that I bought in 2014 before I was aware fast fashion was even a thing. I’ve bought them on many adventures and they have so many memories attached now! I recently got them repaired & resoled so they can last me at least another 10 years. #MakeDoAndMend 💚 ✨ From April 2019 to June 2020, I bought no new clothes! Highly recommend doing a no-buy challenge 🚫 ✨ I still believe that joy and love are the baseline & if we free ourselves of all the unnecessary noise & consumption (in all forms) that’s where we get to the truly good stuff — I try to apply this idea across all I do.     Singapore 🇸🇬 thank you for having us! This Singapore 🇸🇬 thank you for having us! This has been a bit of a luxury trip, so we booked a few nights at the @panpacificorchard, a Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) certified sustainable hotel, with wonderfully biophilic design!! 🌿🌴 Highly recommend checking out Singapore’s array of sustainable and biophilic hotels if you’re ever there (a great stop over to Aus for my Irish and English friends and fam 😉) Our visit to Singapore was full of gardens — • The botanic gardens (where the seed bank is) • Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve (known for its migratory birds 🪶 we also saw lots of water monitor lizards here) • Gardens by the Bay (we visited the Cloud Forest which also had a nice short movie about climate change to watch at the end 🌡️) I loved the quote in the seed bank: “In the end we will conserve only what we love; we will love only what we understand; and we will understand only what we are taught.” - Baba Dioum This is why we travel; to learn, to understand, to love, to conserve 🌏💚 I’m sure I’ll be back, surely for at least a stop over one day soon! Does anyone have any Singapore recommendations for next time I’m there?
    Some more very special memories from our elopement Some more very special memories from our elopement, two years ago today! For our wedding dinner, we had homemade nachos (vegan for me) 🌱 Our photographer @ashpowell did a breathtaking job at capturing the essence of us as people and as a couple on our day, but these moments of us making nachos are gold – most of our loved ones know how often we make and eat nachos, for the 12+ years we’ve been together. Surprised I haven’t turned into guacamole yet 😅 We also opened a bottle of vodka from @thesheddistillery that we bought in Kenmare the day before. Was a fab way to celebrate before we realised we were leaving Ireland only days later and thus enjoyed a few too many for the following nights in Kilkenny 🥲🥲 📍 In the kitchen of a beautiful 200 year old traditional stone cottage, set in over 100 acres of private land 🍀✨
    Two years married today 🤍 Can you believe how f Two years married today 🤍 Can you believe how fast these two years have gone?! Here are some snaps from our elopement on the Beara Peninsula, near Kenmare in Ireland ⛰️ Shot by @ashpowell We’re currently spending our second anniversary in some luscious, warm spots – just left Singapore and currently basking in Ubud, Bali 🌴 On the plane I listened to the first couple of chapters of the first Outlander book, so I thought the photos from the visit to Uragh Stone Circle just after our ceremony would be fitting to share today! This is a sacred spot from the Bronze Age near a cooking site (fulacht fiadh) from the same era, a boulder burial site, and house ruins from the famine, which we visited the day before. So thankful we got to spend some time here during our wedding day 💞
    Please welcome the newest member of our family, 🧚 Fairy 🧚 As some of you might remember from my Stories in December and January, this sweet girl was our neighbour’s cat She first popped up in our yard on Christmas Day (after I kept joking to my husband about getting a cat for Christmas hahah), in mid-February we took her in & then in March we officially adopted her 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 It’s been such a beautiful year so far with lots of cuddles from this one. She’s not besties with Dinah yet but we’re working on it 💞 After giving us a right scare this morning by choking on her breakfast & ending up at the emergency vet, I figure it’s about time I share an official welcome. So a big warm hello to Fairy! You’ll be seeing more of her around here 😽 Eco-friendly bed/scratching post by @bosscat.au - honestly the best on the Australian market and actually STURDY. Hope to get one for Dinah too 🙌 P.S. Swipe to the end for the time I found her in our yard on New Year’s Day & bought her back to our neighbours - she seemed to pop up on all the public holidays 🎊 There truly is nothing more incredible than the cat distribution system 😅💘
