    Last night I walked outside to empty the recycling Last night I walked outside to empty the recycling bin. The crisp winter air hit my lungs like a loud, “hello, I’m here!” 🌬 It’s been a while since I walked outside and breathed air so light. There have been occasions over the past 2 years where I would step outside and inhale thick city smog as I walked past a row of townhouses to our communal bins. Something so simple as last night, stepping out, wandering through our own front garden, and taking in the vast southern sky felt like such a relief. I’ve been stumbling across a lot of these moments lately. Staying up past Glenn falls asleep, with Dinah on my thigh, under our own roof on our quiet street thinking, “how can it get any better than this?” 😌✨ Even in this terrible chaos, even in this challenging time, gratitude continues to knock on my door, popping in and surprising me every time. In these moments, I’m not sure what to do next. I haven’t been sure for a few months now. There are many paths before me. I know that. But I think I’m comfortable staying right here, with Glenn asleep next to me and Dinah on my thigh, as I dream into the southern sky, cradled between the oak moss walls of our own home on our quiet street... for just a little while longer 💚
    I don't have the answers, but I have a lot of ques I don't have the answers, but I have a lot of questions. What's more important to you: soul work or social justice work? Can you even separate the two?

[PR sample/affiliate] I'm a huuuuuuge fan of period undies and have been using them for over 2 years now. Not only is plastic in period products super concerning (#EndPeriodPlastic @elladaish), but on average, we menstruators will dispose of over 11,000 disposable pads and tampons our lifetimes. That's a LOT of single-use plastic waste and a lot of money spent on period products. The answer is to try out the alternatives: cups, undies, and organic products. These alternatives aren't a rare occurrence anymore is Aus (yay) and are arguably more convenient than your average pad or tampon 👌🏼 A pleasure to have supported this local Perth biz @myhumbleearth over the past few years in their mission to reduce single-use plastic.     Last night’s supermoon and some moon history for Last night’s supermoon and some moon history for you 🌝👇 All around the world, there are stories about and names for the moon and its cycles. While the Gregorian calendar months are mainly used to mark the moon today (e.g. the April full moon), many cultures used to (and still do) label a cycle of 12 to 13 lunations around the weather, seasons, activities, plants and/or animals of that particular moon cycle. Link to a NASA article in my bio if you want to know more about different cultures, not just the Northern Hem. & the West. The Pink Moon, from what I know (which isn’t much – still learning), was published in the Farmer’s Almanac, a North American periodical which shared both Native American and Colonial American moon names, many coming also from European tradition. The Pink Moon is named after the wild phlox, a pink flower of this time of year in North America. So, while the current moon cycle in the North/West is the Pink Moon/Seed Moon/Egg Moon and so forth, depending on the culture, it feels disconnected to use these names in Australia at the moment (and maybe even year round), where the seasons we experience are not only different to Europe and North America, but vary even throughout the country. In Southern Hemisphere Pagan/Celtic communities (which I am actually familiar with), it’s common to flip the cycles around and use the moon names for the opposite time of year, just like how our seasons are seemingly opposite. So, this current lunation becomes the Hunter’s Moon/Blood Moon/Harvest Moon or many more depending on the culture. As somebody who lives on Noongar Boodja, vastly different to Ireland, I’m still finding it difficult to reconcile my own cultural practices with Country and the activities and environment of this region during this time of year. Is it still the Ivy Moon if all of the ivy is introduced? Is it still the Harvest Moon if it is Djeran, not ‘harvest season’? I don’t have the answers, but remembering where language comes from is important, and I think it’s worth putting the question out there.
    Yesterday's misty morning in the South West 🌞 Yesterday's misty morning in the South West 🌞 This weekend was our first adventure in what feels like a very, very long time but it certainly didn't feel like an escape. With a lockdown announced back home as we were arriving at our destination, it became the most unexpected weekend but we did our best to remember that it was a trip with purpose! So happy that we could be there to see our friends finally get married in the most enchanting patch of Jarrah forest 🦘 A timely reminder that love is always the answer ✨💚
